Adventures in Odyssey, from Focus on the Family, is supposedly for listeners six to twelve, but... Well. Listen to The Novacom Saga, or the Blackgaard Chronicals, or, better yet, The Labyrinth, and you'll see how wrong they are. We can aaaall enjoy this stuff (okay, some of the episodes are a bit... meh). So, is anyone here an AIO fan? Here's the perfect discussion thread. To start things off, who is everyone's favorite AIO character? I'm going to say mine is Richard Maxwell. *nod*

I only listened to the three we owned, but my favorite was the one where the girl gets to become grown up while she's still a kid. "I can make anything I want and I'm making a pot pie?"

I like that one, but it's certainly not the best. I like their action-adventure type episodes the best.

My younger sister and I listen to the older Odysseys on tape every night. One of my favourite characters: Mitch. Definitely Mitch. I LOVE his voice...

Yeah... Mitch.
That whole thing with Connie and Mitch gets a bit... messy...

I can't say who my favorite character is... I like Mitch, but he's not really my favorite... Richard Maxwell is definitely one of my favorites, as well as Bourland (though, admittedly, I've wanted to slap both of them at one point or another). My favorite story arc was Blackgaard's, for its heart and for the episode, "The Time Has Come," which is my favorite of all time. However, the Novacom Saga, if slightly (extremely) cheesy, was masterfully executed. All of the results of Novacom— Eugene's return, the story arc that was born of his long exile, and all the things that it touched on, are brilliant as well. That was kind of the golden age of AIO, in my mind.
"The Labyrinth" is also a favorite of mine. :-) And Billings, for those of you who have heard it, is a liked character, even though he got it so wrong.
Question for Odyssey listeners: Which voice of Mr. Whitaker is your favorite?

Yeah... Mitch. That whole thing with Connie and Mitch gets a bit... messy... Yeah, I know; but his voice is lovely. My fave with him in it is when he first was introduced to the series.

And Paul Herlinger is definitely my favorite Mr. Whittaker. Favorite character? Um... I don't know. I love Lucy (no pun intended). Mandy is cute too (maybe that has something to do with my name being Amanda). So I'm biased. I love Connie (and I've actually emailed with Katie Leigh before!). Biased again. Mitch is one of my favorites, definitely. And Mr. (Not Dr.) Blackgaard and Shakespeare make me laugh.

Paul Herlinger is my favorite, too. :-) I think Novacom was much better as far as skill goes, but the heart in the last bits of the Blackgaard Chronicles make up for the lack of technical quality.

The episodes in which the actors argue with themselves, like Broken Window and Tom Riley's campaign for mayor, are awesome. :-) I did know that all of those were the same actors. Richard Maxwell and Stephen Straussberg are also the same... And the actor of Wooten Basset plays about four hundred other minor characters— And Mr. Charles. :-D He can change his voice drastically, but if you pay very close attention, you can almost always catch that particular tone in his voice.
I believe Walter Shakespeare and Cryin' Bryan Dern are also the same actor... But I can never hear the similarities in them. :-)

I think Paul Herlinger is my favorite, too, but that's probably because he was the first Mr. Whitaker I listened to.

Ooh, other people who like AIO! : D I started listening with two CDs my family had, and then I heard the Green Ring Conspiracy about 6 years later. I think the GRC remains my favorite set of episodes, even though I've heard almost all of them now (we got an OAC membership)

We started listening to them online just in time to listen the the Novacom Chronicles. Have you listened to Novacom yet?

I heard the first part of the GRC on the radio and nearly drove myself crazy trying to find the rest (which wasn't up yet). Actually, I think it was a Friday, and the episodes they were playing every Saturday/Sunday were from the Novacom Saga. I've listened to Novacom quite a few times since then though... aka about 5

We own both the Novacom Saga and The Blackgaard Chronicles, so we've listened to both of those about a hundred times each.

Yes, Jason is awesome! I like Buck too... Has anyone else heard Taking the Plunge on the OAC? It has a ton of Buck, and also the answer to the question posed at the end of the Ties that Bind!

I used to listen to these on the radio years ago. It's been a long time. I think they still have them on sometime. It might be Saturday mornings. I don't listen to the radio.

It's kind of... depressing. We just started listening to The Ties That Bind. It's the only album which has ever been aired that my family and I haven't listened to.

Well... It's well done, but it doesn't really have a happy ending. It's a morality tale, and they never end well.
