So Camp NaNoWriMo starts in less than two weeks! Who is participating? Since we're not all in cabins together, I thought this would be a fun way to let each other know how we're doing.
I'm going to be working on Ilyon - Book 5. I'm doing a safe word count of 20,000 words this time around since I'll be gone for a few days after the 4th. Hopefully I'll write even more than that, but we'll see. If I can do that, it will put me over the 50,000 words mark for the book, and I'll only have another 30,000 to write to reach my goal for the book's total word count.

I'm participating! My goal is to finish the first book of my outer space dystopian trilogy, which amounts to about a 30,000 word goal. I've never done any NaNo of any kind before, though, so I have no idea how it'll actually go.

There's no way I could NOT do a NaNo event of any kind, so of course I'm participating. I'm still working out my word count goal... It all depends if I'm able to finish this novel before the beginning of July. Then I'm going to be editing. Joy. Good luck, Morgan and Jaye! Keep us updated.

I'm participating this month... I'm going to be doing editing. Not sure how this is going to turn out. I'll attempt to count how many words I've written by how many words I've put into the second draft, so my goal is relatively small: 25,000. Good luck to everyone!

I'm participating! I have six novels I will be working on for Camp NaNo with a collective goal of 50,000 words, mainly because my sister said I should do it and would be good at it.

Oh, she's a crazy writer. She writes on so many different things all the time and can easily write 2000 words in a day. I'm jealous. I'm super slow.

I can write a lot in one day, but I can't imagine writing that many different things at once. xD The bad thing about fast writing is, you end up with more of a need to edit... which is not enjoyably.

Well, I'm too distractable, I guess, to be able to focus on just one story at a time. I'm not quite as fast as Morgan says, though. I can write 1000 words a day pretty easily.

I'm setting a lofty goal of 50,000 words in my fifth novel (with a goal of at least 80,000 total eventually). I'm also going to try to do it handwritten for the first draft during Camp NaNo. I may switch to typing it up partway through, though. We'll see how I survive.

Thanks, Athelas! I did Camp NaNo in April with a goal of 30,000 words and barely made it. But I was also still working at the time and didn't have as much time. July is going to be slightly busy what with teaching VBS one week and normal summer busyness, but I'm hopeful that I can finish it. The hard part will be figuring out how to write it since it is venturing into a sub-genre I haven't done before: Mystery.

What's your highest amount of words written in a day? I'm not really sure since I haven't been keeping track for long, but I seem to remember writing 5,000 words one day a while back. I haven't been able to replicate that since, but that was a really good writing day.

It's really rough and very likely will change, but here it is: Joshua Brookings, now a Pinkerton detective, works to solve the mystery of a disappearing man who had been investigating some strange happenings in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Will Joshua find Mr. Harris before something happens to him? EvilAuthorAddyson, I've written over 5,000 words a few times, but not very often. Maybe in July I can do a few days of those.

I grew up with Old Time Radio dramas... the detectives, special investigators, a superhero now and then... your teaser sounds awesome. Intriguing, but just the right sort of feel of... familiarity, I guess? My highest words in a day is around 8,000. I have no idea if I'll ever be crazy enough to try it again... though someday I'd lik to do NaNo in a week or so. That would be so much fun.

I've read quite a few mysteries, so I'm hoping to make it work out. I guess I'll find out. Thanks. I honestly don't know what my highest word count in a day is. If I didn't get distracted too much, I suppose it's possible that I could do quite a few words in day since I can write pretty fast when I have the ideas and inspiration. We'll see what this coming month holds. NaNo in a week sounds fun. Let me know if you decide to do it. Maybe we could both try it and spur each other on.

Looks like we're all going to be very busy next month!
I think my highest word count for a day was about 8,000. I'm just happy when I can get 1,500.

If I get into a good bit of rewriting for my second draft, maybe we could Word War next month? I most certainly will let you know. It'd be awesome to do it with a small (but extremely dedicated and slightly crazy) group of people. Looks like we're all going to be very busy next month! I think my highest word count for a day was about 8,000. I'm just happy when I can get 1,500. Hopefully not too busy. Though I think for most of us who are doing Camp, this thread is the one we'll probably spend the most time on. I do most of my writing during NaNo... a habit which I should probably break, so I don't really know what a "typical" writing day is.

I'm doing Camp. I've not gotten very far on any writing project so I thought that it might help.

As for the Word Wars, we could maybe create a thread on here? Or we could use a chat channel or something on that. I LOVE Word Wars.

You all make my word counts seem pitiful. I'm not positive what my highest daily word count is, but it's probably somewhere around 1,500. But I've yet to complete anything longer than a middle grade book, so that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

I'm doing Camp! :-D I'm doing 40,000 words... 0.0 Which is the highest I've gone yet in a Nano thing. And I'm also doing a genre I haven't done yet: Sci-fi/Dystopian. I'm a bit nervous... I've always written fantasy before now, so... It's a bit of a scary prospect. :-P
