This is the place to share the tales behind your screen name/user name. Tell us, why did you pick the name you did?
I'm always curious, and especially with the Nickname thread, it will be fun to hear the legends of how our screen names came to be.
So introduce to us the handle by which we all here know you... your user name.

My sister always says I'm a mean/evil author, so I thought, why not?

My username story isn't particularly interesting, it's actually just my middle name with the title Lady in front.

My sister always says I'm a mean/evil author, so I thought, why not? I always wondered why it was EvilAuthorAddyson ! And I told her to change it because it sounds bad without context, but she didn't. We're always talking about "evil authors" like Suzanne Collins and Steven Moffat who torture their characters mercilessly. Anyway, mine is boring. I'm an author and my name is Morgan Huneke. So, yeah. I was being super uncreative.

Well, I noticed a "lady so and so" theme going on here, and I liked the name Shaylee for a medieval type name. So.

Several years ago, God started showing me many amazing things about His rest. Life in Him is resting in Him - resting in Him is life! See Rest in His Love for more on that. "Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him..." "The Lord your God in the midst of you is mighty; he will rejoice over you with joy; he will rest in His love; he will joy over you with singing!" (Zeph. 3:17). Rest became a key word in my life. (In fact, I'm planning on publishing a book on resting in God soon. Watch Written Rest for details on that...) So once upon a time, I wanted a name that wasn't already "taken" on websites I signed up for. I also wanted it to be one word, easy to pronounce and type, and sound bookish/elvish. Combining "Rest" with my first and middle initials and the first few letters of my last name provided the perfect solution. Bonus: it also labeled me as a "rester" - one who is at rest. And being at rest in God does not mean idleness, laziness, or inaction - but rather peace, confidence, security, and unfettered joy in being one with Him and safe in His care!

Bria is short for my real name. Maid is how girls are addressed in my story.

I never would've guessed, haha. I thought you just made up a elvish sounding name...but now that I know the meaning behind it I like it even more.

LadyErika I love the meaning behind your name! So cool. =) God is so amazing! So mine...'BladeSpinnerRae'. Well, my name is Raechel but my family and some friends call me 'Rae' so there's that, and I throw knives and tomahawks for fun, so that is where 'bladespinner' came from. =) Nothing too exciting...

LadyErika Aha, so that's the full etymology behind your name. I kinda figured that was what you had done (since I know your real name from emailing) but didn't realize you had your first two initials in there. Well, mine is an interesting story. About four years ago, I was involved in the YWP NaNo Forums, under the username "KendraKnitterbug." When one of the other NaNoers announced that she had taken over the world. So a group of us "Anarchists" banded together and called ourselves "Overladies" and went to war against her. Each of us Overladies had a particular power, and mine was over Fairy Tale characters. (Aladdin never did get the concept of formation) We fought bravely, and at last prevailed when the forum lost interest and started selling things instead. I decided that I didn't like the title "Overlady" and wanted something a bit more dignified and less evil sounding, but more powerful than princess or queen. So, messing around with "Aristocrat" I stumbled upon "Arista" and declared it to be my title. A few weeks later, I decided that I wanted to make it my username ... which meant that I had to get a new account, but such sacrifices had to be made. To make the effect as dramatic as possible, I declared that my previous Username "died" from a fictional disease that I had invented called "Existanitus" and that one of my fairy tale characters (who was a doctor) cloned me. I still use "KendraKnitterbug" on some forums, but "FairyTaleArista" is my favorite.

Mine is just my pen name. Alea was the heroine of a LOTR fanfiction I wrote. When I became serious about writing, I made it the first name of my pen name. Harper just sounded like a great last name!

So, my username... hmm.
I was just messing around with an elvish name generator, and decided I liked 'Hadlathwen'. It translates to 'sling-maiden'. And now, I'm attempting to write a LoTR fan fiction based on the name.

Aiden I do indeed throw knives and tomahawks. A friend introduced me to the hoby several years back, and it has remained a favourite. Though my favourite knife broke recently after two years use. Thankfully my Dad can file a new tip on it to make it useable again.
