Here you can discuss The King's Scrolls, the second book in the Ilyon Chronicles series. If you want to discuss something specific, feel free to create a separate thread for it.
And if you have not read it yet, I do not suggest reading past this point! I'm sure there will be major SPOILERS!

I didn't cry until Kyrin and Kaden found out. Then I cried... I did that too. I think I was kinda in shock until they broke down!

NOOO!!! Don't remind me!!! Sowwey. But also dragons??? Dragons are awesome. Always. Even Smaug was awesome - in the "AHHH It's-a-dragon-AH-it's going-to-kill-me " kind of way.

Ah, when poor Jace was trying to do something about Kyrin's pain .... But on a happier note, I totally loved how much Jace and Kyrin's relationship grew!!! It's just, too cute!! I can't wait to see what happens between them in Samara's Peril!

I can't wait to see what happens between them in Samara's Peril! Yes, I loved that. It's hard for Jace to comfort someone since he has no experience either way, but I love how hard he tries. And they are very cute.

I just read this in the last week. I actually didn't cry. Not with real tears at least. It was stillheart wrenching. The bits with Marcus, why couldn't he see sooner? I felt so sorry for him. You know that verss that talks anout how the gospel sets families against each other. I understand it more now. And poor Leetra. If I ever hated a fictional character it's Falcor. I found out accidentally that William dies already, which made it slightly more bearable. Someone carelessly mentioned it in the speculation thread on Goodreads.

I just read this in the last week. I didn't actually cry. Not with real tears at least. I had accidentally found out that William died, (someone carelessly mentioned it in the speculation thread on Goodreads) so I had partly gotten over it already. The book was still heart wrenching. Marcus's story, why couldn't he see what he was doing? I felt sorry for him and felt like hitting him on the head at the same time. I understand the full implication of the passage that talks about the gospel setting families against themselves better than I ever did. And poor Leetra. If I ever hated a fictional character, it's Falcor.

Yes, hate Falcor. He's the evilest, worst villain in the series. I despise him.

Falcor's pretty awful. I can't say I hate all traitors because of Edmund Pevensie, but I hate unrepentant traitors. Davira's pretty creepy, though. And the General is awful and infuriating, so I'm not sure which villain I consider the worst.

Yes, Davira is so creepy. Jaye has invented some pretty 'good' villains.

Davira doesn't bother me so much, but I get the impression she's going to be a major villain later.
The General, though...
Let's just say, there aren't many characters that I would want to die a horrible death.
Like... one.

Since this is TKS thread and we're talking about Ilyon villains in general, I created a villian thread to continue this discussion. But Falcor and The General are indeed well fleshed out in TKS. And I loved reading about Marcus - the good, bad, and ugly.

And then there's Kaden and the dragons and Jace with Gem. So much sweet there.

Dragons are awesome. It's too bad Jace has a fear of heights, but at least he still managed to ride.

I loved his fear of heights. So realistic... it really helped me relate to him in a way I couldn't before - not that I fear heights, but that Jaye's description and portrayal of his emotion, struggles, and feelings was so well done that I could feel it all as well. The entire scene was very real to me and assisted my understanding of who he is as a person and how he reacts.

But still, poor Jace. There's a reason my sisters and I call it the "Poor Jace Series."

Yes. That bit with his fear of heights is what finally helped me connect with Jace (because, to tell the truth, I hadn't in Resistance). I'm not scared of heights, personally, but I have a character who is (some of you know who she is, but I'd rather not have names named here, because of plot spoilers), and the whole time I was reading those chapters, she must have been reading over my shoulder (please tell me that I'm not the only author whose characters do this!), because she kept commenting with, "Yep, yep, I feel you buddy, the pain is REAL!" Which was completely weird because she usually scorns self-published books.
