So Sad. Jaye should've won ....as for my current readings it includes Shock of Knight by Patrick W Carr and the original Elsie Dinsmore books by Martha Finley (the 18880s version)

Yeah they're pretty cool. I got copies of the first prints for most of the 28 books, some over 100 years old, and it's just so cool reading it. Like a time travel reading it because all the English is different than how it is now.

That's awesome. Did you get the set of 12, or all 28?

I've got all of the Elsie Books, The Mildred ones too. I've read them too many times and I'm rather tired of them now. Martha Finley actually wrote some other books that are pretty good though.
I read Daughter of Light recently too! I doubt I'll ever read the others. Too expensive and really not quite my kind of book. A little on the dark side. I generally prefer brighter books.

I got Shock of Light free to review, but I am still curious as to what is going to happen. Did you get read the original Mildred or the ones by A Life of Faith?

The originals. I like them better than the Elsie ones. But I still think some of her stand alone works are even better. Especially, Wanted: A Pedigree. If only the name was as good as the book.

I love Elsie Dinsmore and Mildred! All of the originals... You're right; old books are amazing. The writing quality and use of language is so high and usually the plots are fascinating and edifying. I love the glimpses into old-fashioned life as well. So refreshing. There's just something about a long-ago author writing in their own time period that's usually so much more refreshing than a modern author writing about the same time period.

Yeah. One of the things that most confused me in the Elsie Books was how they prepared their "toilet" I had to look it up, and realized it was basically doing their hair and other things. Old books have so much character for sure. <3

It's REALLY good. I love the main character. It's such a great story! (So glad for the Kindle Unlimited Library) Blades, believers, fights, and friendship.

Yup! Although when I was thirteen, I did not act as childish as Brandi does.

I know what you mean. I don't think I've ever been that outgoing. (My parents say I acted like an adult since I was 3.)

I'm just about to finish "The Daughter of Highland Hall" by Carrie Turnasky, and about to start the next book, "A Refuge at Highland Hall" I believe it's called. They're a Christian Edwardian series. I haven't read the first (oops!), but I'm enjoying this one so far, and looking forward to the next. This one has been good, though I'm kind of ready to be done with it now.
