So what is everyone currently working on? Tell us about it! I'm about half done with Ilyon Chronicles - Book 5. Chapter 15 to be exact. Can't say too much about it, but I will say that it takes place in the dead of winter. That's kind of strange to write when it's 70 degrees outside. Oh, and there is a lot of Jace.

Yay for a lot of Jace, and winter. I am currently working on a short story for a contest about Jane Austen retellings, and I'm editing my Beauty and the Beast story, and writing in a couple of my other stories when I have spare time. =)

Lots of Jace is always awesome. I'm primarily working on an outer space dystopian story, but I'm also writing a sci-fi in another world adventure/drama and a Sleeping Beauty retelling, plus some random other things.

Can't say too much about it, but I will say that it takes place in the dead of winter. That's kind of strange to write when it's 70 degrees outside. The novel I'm (mostly avoiding) editing has two locations in it: the frigid ice-lands, and the desert. Somehow, I managed to end up writing the coldest parts in the middle of summer (110 degrees that year... *shudders in memory*), and by the time winter came along, I ended up writing the part in the desert. How I managed that perfect timing, I have no idea. As mentioned above, the project I'm currently working on is editing on my book IOTW, which I started in late 2011. It's a little over 118,000 words long, and in desperate need of some work.

Hi! I'm working on six different novels right now...only two of them take place in the real world. the rest are in different fantasy and sci-fi universes of their own. The longest one is Condemned Patriot that has 89,061 words so far.

I'm currently working on an Ilyon Fanfiction novella and a short story for a Jane Austen contest. That's what I'm writing. For editing, I'll be working on two novellas and one novel as soon I get them back from the proofreaders and beta-readers. In July, I'm also going to try to get my fifth novel started.

My current focus projects are editing Water Princess, Fire Prince, the first volume of my Rizkaland Legends, and writing the sequel, as well as a Sleeping Beauty retelling for a contest.

All of your books sound so exciting! I can't wait for the day when I get to read them.

Ooh! I'm working on a Sleeping Beauty retelling, too! Probably for the same contest. Are you guys talking about the Five Magic Spindles Collection?

Those fairy tale retelling contests always look like so much fun. I thought about doing the Beauty and the Beast one last year, but I just never had the time to do it. I do have the story mostly planned out though, so maybe someday I'll get around to writing it. I do have a Cinderella story I'd like to write too. Yeah, I have a long list of potential stories to work on after Ilyon Chronicles.

Yeah, I wrote one for the Beauty and the Beast one, but I finished it too late... as in, April... this year. :-P

I wanted to do Beauty and the Beast, but didn't have any ideas. I'm not a big Sleeping Beauty fan, but I wanted to do the contest, so I was thinking of twist ideas, and then it was like, bam, I have a great idea. So now I'm writing it.

I just recently wrote a short story for the Five Magic Spindles Contest. My basic premise was: What if when Briar Rose pricked her finger the Prince fell asleep instead?

I finished the first draft of my dystopian/sci fi novel, The Clockshifter, in April and have started editing a little bit. In July I will be working on my Five Magic Spindles entry and my next novel, We Are the Dreamers.

I... am writing about 90 something stories. Lol. So I don't exactly have a single work-in-progress, but mostly right now I'm working on science fiction/fantasy books that I have going. One of them is called Operation R3VO7T, and it's set in Universe 37 (this is going off of the idea that there are other universes besides ours). It's sooo complicated...

Eee, I JUST finished writing the story of my heart - the story I've been writing for over 4 years! It's actually completed, and it feels so surreal. It's magic-less fantasy type. I just can't believe I've finally finished it!! Now comes typing it up on the computer and editing it...I think I'll focus on getting my Beauty and the Beast story edited completely and published before I start to tackle that one though...we'll see.

Congratulations on finishing your story, Rae! It must be exciting. :-D
I have three different "works in progress" at three different stages: a short script at the last stages of editing, a screenplay that I've just begun editing, and a project proposal for a serial story I would like to co-write with people. Oddly, they're all space stories with hints of the fantastical. :-) (I feel a bit like the odd one out in that I'm not actively writing any prose... Except a just-for-fun story I occasionally work on.)

Ooh, I had never thought of that! That sounds intriguing, if done well. xD ...Wait. You 'just recently wrote it'? O.O Does that mean you're already finished?

It was a short story, just over five thousand words. I need to go through it and edit it before submitting it to the Five Magic Spindles contest, but...yes, I'm done.

Wow. You're fast. It'd take me that long to find a name for the main character.

Don't tell anyone but my sister is a great writer and I'm not that good at it. LOL. That is how it works. I NEED insperation!!!! I have a Pinterest board called, 'Lauren's Storyboard:Tales Told Again' which is helping me a little, but not much. Please help!

Lady Lauren - what's your basic story plot so far? Well Scarlet is mad at her mom & dad bc they r trying to protect her bc she is a princess (but doesn't know it) so she runs away with her cousins (Rapunzel and Snow White) That's all I have but I'm only on chapter 4.

To be entirely honest, none of my stories have made it past chapter 4 yet, and several of them aren't even there (my family says that I should try focusing on one story at a time...) so you're doing terrifically. Hmm... Do either Rapunzel or Snow White know that Scarlet is a princess? Because if so, and if you don't want Scarlet to know anything, you might try switching to one of their perspectives and letting the audience know what they think about all of this - unless your readers don't know she's a princess either, in which case never mind. If neither of them know and you want Scarlet to, perhaps you can add in some of Scarlet's confusion over her parents' protectiveness, and she can talk with someone about it and begin to get suspicious. Adds to the action/suspense/tension of the scene, I think. Also consider: where did they run away to? Are you going to insert anything similar to Ents in the LOTR, talking plants - or talking animals, like Narnia? They could tell her of some sort of old prophecy, and out of curiosity she begins comparing it to her own life and realizes that so far, she's fulfilling it. (Animal/plant type would depend on their location. They could be in a desert from one of the Arabian tales, in the middle of the Beast's gardens, or stuck in a school library in Los Angeles. Big difference.) Or you could leave out talking vegetation and animals, and have another fairytale character (probably an older, wiser one) who suggests something to Scarlet. Wow, I got carried away, lol! Hope that some of that helps.

This makes me think of a story idea of mine. I decided to take it in a different direction though.
